Works to Pierpoint Lane Accessible ramp completed
Works to improve access to Chester Rows – Bridge Street West and Watergate Street South have now completed. This includes a new ramp with improved surfacing and handrails to make it safer for people in wheelchairs and built out pavement areas with lowered kerbs and signage to support way-finding to the level access route via Weaver Street.

Chester Movement Strategy – taking shape

Cathedral Update
Chester Cathedral continues their journey of increased visibility and improvement in the city. The journey started in 2022 with the glass doors of the Pilgrim Porch allowing visitors to peek inside the Cathedral and continues with acquisition of 30 St Werburgh St (formerly Barclays Bank). Networks for Nature Update

Lache Backies Transformation
An 8 hectare (19 acre) former brickworks and landfill site has been regenerated in Lache with funding from FCC Communities Foundation and Heritage Lottery Funding via Chester Zoo’s Network for Nature programme. Nuns Road paving scheme completed
The scheme, which began in January 2026, focused on repairing the existing footway alongside the City Walls. Over recent years, several sections had become uneven or lifted by tree roots, creating a number of potential trip hazards. Boosting Chester's 5G and 4G Mobile Coverage

Lache, Backies work underway
Work has started at the Backies in Lache. As part of the Lache Action Plan, the former landfill site is being transformed into a green space area for wildlife and residents to enjoy. The first task was the clearing of a considerable amount of fly-tipped waste.
