Chester West and Chester Council’s regeneration team have secured over £73,000 to deliver heritage-led refurbishment to the public realm and stallboards of nine historic buildings on Eastgate Row North.
Using a team of experienced heritage professionals, works include removing bitumen or mid-20th century over-boarding, and replacing with hand-made oak stallboards in line with photographic and other historic records of each building as well as making repairs and repainting balustrades. The works extend the legacy of the completed Heritage Action Zone project and aim to ensure the historic integratory of this unique built environment is retained for future generations.
This work was funded by the Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.
