Planning for an aging population and being an age-friendly city

The Age-friendly Cheshire West Partnership was established in 2018 and aims to make the borough an even better place for our residents to live and grow older. Joining the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities and the UK Network of Age-friendly Communities in 2018 recognised the work and the commitment already being undertaken to make Cheshire West and Chester a great place to live and grow older.

The Partnership has undertaken a variety of projects such as:

  • the production of Age-friendly Communication Guidelines, for use by all services communicating with older adults

  • commissioning three Food and Ageing Well schemes to increase older people’s access to nutritious food across the Borough

  • supporting ‘Lets Go Retro’ employment events alongside employees aged 50 and over

  • celebrating the 2023 International Day of Older Persons with numerous events in our libraries, and

  • creating a new Age-friendly Hub on the Live Well Cheshire West website, and reviewing the website’s accessibility
