Civic Heart

With the current anchors of Storyhouse, the University’s Gateway House development and the Cathedral’s Project Discovery development, there is a real opportunity to build upon and cultivate a focal point of cultural activities around these city anchors.

This would involve ensuring studio space, workspaces and educational spaces for the creative, cultural and digital industries that are flexible and affordable, are embedded within any future development around Town Hall square.

This project area is being seen as one of the highest priorities within the OCP – it is a real focus for the actions of all the OCP Working Groups and is seen as having the real potential of becoming a hub of creativity, performance, events, alfresco, street animation and gatherings right in the heart of the City. This would elevate Chester regionally on the creative and cultural map.
